Conference Call Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 12:30 pm by Board Chair Rick Kolb.  Mr. Kolb read the conflict of interest statement.  Other Board members present included Bill Miller, Kenneth Taylor, Rick Garrett and John Stevens.  Steve Miller was absent. Executive Director Barbara Geiger and Board Counsel Mary Lucasse were also present. Dr. Taylor noted that, as the State Geologist and employee of the NC Department of Environmental Quality, he would refrain from participating in the deliberation or taking any action by the Board with respect to any matter involving an employee of the Department.  Mr. Garrett recused himself from item number 170164.

CE Committee Report

The Board discussed item numbers 170123, 170124, 170172 and 170181.  Dr. Miller made the motion that the Board approve the CE Committee report as presented and acted upon.  The motion was seconded by Mr. Stevens and carried.  The report is attached to and is a part of these minutes.

ASBOG

The ASBOG Council of Examiners meeting is scheduled for April 5-6, 2018 in Jackson Mississippi. Mr. Kolb made the motion to send up to three people to the workshop and to invite Dennis LaPoint and Bill Harris to attend on behalf of the Board.  The motion was seconded by Dr. Taylor and carried.  There was discussion regarding CE education credit for the workshop.  Motion to allow CE credit for participation in the COE Workshop was made by Mr. Garrett and seconded by Mr. Stevens.  Drs. Miller and Taylor recused themselves from the vote.

The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for April 17, 2018 at 10:00 am.  The CE Committee will meet at 8:30 am.

On motion and second the meeting was adjourned at 1:53 pm.
